Summary:
The Environmental Officer is responsible for managing the company Environmental reporting, standards, policies and programs specific to Energean operating standards. Executes Environmental compliance programs with company, country, state and local Environmental regulations. Directs the identification and definition of existing and potential HSE concerns/risks and their solutions.
Key Accountabilities:
• Maintain and enforce ongoing compliance of permits and regulations as required by MoEP and MoE.
• Proactively engage with Environmental government agencies to build trust and maintain a professional relationship, ensure no surprises to the operation and conditions optimization for cost and operability.
• Manage Energean Israel Environmental reporting internally and externally, including QA/QC. Monitor Environmental performance indicators and provide management ongoing clarity and up to date status and trends.
• Review and manage Energean Israel environmental programs, goals and indicators, ensuring implementation across all operations, both onshore and offshore.
• Ensure execution of all Environmental permit conditions, commitments and legal obligations.
• Interface with regulatory bodies and with public sector as required.
• Regular engagement with contractors to ensure compliance with Energean environmental requirements.
• Undertake onshore and offshore Environmental audits and develpoe environmental training as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Engineering or Master of Science degree in Environmental / Chemical or O&G with at least 5 years of practical experience in environmental regulations.
• Proven expericnce working with the Ministry of Environmental Protection, serving as liaison with regulators and stakeholders. experience with Israel Environmental regulatory permits and compliance processes is essential.
• Strong technical environmental/operational background in offshore O&G or similar industries is preferred; demonstrate quick learning curve to fill missing knowledge.
• Strong background in corporate reporting, PRTR and ESG is preffered.
• Experience in implementing and maintaining ISO 14001 Environemntal Managment system, ISO 50001- adventage.
• Ability to deal effectively with ambiguity and demonstrate consistency and persistence for meeting company requirements
• Good negotiation and communication skills and ability to work within a multicultural work environment
• Ability to engage at all levels of the organization, offshore operations, with regulators and senior management.
• A genuine team player having the desire to work in the broader sphere of Environmental team activities
• Ability to work overtime as needed.
• Ability to travel offshore as needed.
• Compliance with Environmental permit conditions, commitments and legal obligations.
