Summary:


Energean is seeking to employ an Offshore Chemist in the Energean Power FPSO, 82klm offshore Israel. The ideal candidate will provide chemical expertise and support to ensure the safe and efficient operations of the facility. The Chemist will conduct sampling and laboratory analyses for process systems such as the following: condensate analysis, wastewater discharges, potable water, bacteria analysis, gas analysis, glycol analysis, diesel fuel oil, hydraulic and heat medium fluids.



Key Accountabilities:

 

1.    Chemical Analysis and Testing:
•    Perform regular sampling, analysis and testing of various streams, including natural gas, produced water, and production related fluids, to determine their composition, properties, and quality.
•    Utilize advanced analytical techniques, such as gas chromatography, spectrometry, and titration, to identify and quantify chemical components in samples.
•    Interpret analytical data and provide accurate and timely reports to operational and management teams.

 

2.    Chemical Treatment and Optimization:
•    Design and implement chemical treatment programs to control corrosion, scale formation, and hydrate inhibition in production systems and pipelines.
•    Conduct field trials to assess the effectiveness of chemical treatments and recommend adjustments or alternative approaches as necessary.
•    Collaborate with production engineers and operations personnel to optimize chemical usage, minimize costs, and maximize production efficiency. 

 

3.    Environmental and Safety Compliance:
•    Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and industry standards by monitoring and managing the handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals and overboard wastewater discharges.
•    Develop and implement procedures for safe chemical handling, including risk assessments, material safety data sheets (MSDS), and emergency response plans.
•    Participate in incident investigations as needed and provide technical support in assessing the impact of chemical-related incidents and developing preventive measures.

 

4.    Quality Control and Assurance:
•    Maintain a high level of quality control and assurance by calibrating and maintaining analytical instruments and equipment.
•    Develop and implement quality control procedures for chemical testing and analysis to ensure accurate and reliable results.
•    Collaborate with third-party laboratories to validate and verify analytical methods and results.
 
5.    Documentation and Reporting:
•    Document all laboratory procedures, analysis results, and maintenance activities in accordance with best practice standards and company policies.
•    Prepare technical reports, summaries, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
•    Stay updated with industry trends, advancements in analytical techniques, and regulatory changes related to offshore chemical management

 


Qualifications and Experience:

 

•    Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
•    Wastewater and sewage sampler certified by the Ministry of Health

 


Skills:

 

•    Strong knowledge of analytical techniques and instruments commonly used in the industry.
•    Familiarity with offshore operations, including production platforms, drilling rigs, and associated processes.
•    Experience in chemical treatment programs for corrosion control, scale inhibition, and hydrate management.
•    Experience in sampling of process and wastewater streams
•    Understanding of environmental regulations and safety protocols relevant to the industry.
•    Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
•    Proficiency in data analysis and report writing.
•    Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Ability to work in a remote offshore environment for extended periods, adhering to rotational schedules
•    Enthusiastic, conscientious and keen to learn.
•    Flexible with can-do attitude.
