Summary:
The Painter onboard the FPSO is responsible for performing surface preparation and applying protective/coating systems to structural steel, piping, tanks and other components, ensuring corrosion protection and adherence to company and offshore safety and quality standards.
Key Accountabilities:
• Perform surface preparation tasks: cleaning, sanding, grit/abrasive blasting or power-tool cleaning; removal of old coatings, rust, scale or contaminants before coating application.
• Apply primers, coatings and paint (industrial/marine grade) using appropriate methods (spray guns, rollers, brushes), according to technical specifications.
• Ensure proper coating application: monitor adhesion, coverage, thickness; inspect finished work for defects and perform necessary touch-ups or rework.
• Maintain and care for painting/coating equipment and tools (spray guns, blasting machines, personal protective equipment, etc.).
• Keep accurate records of work done: surfaces treated, type of coatings used, inspections, and maintenance logs.
• Work in compliance with all offshore safety, environmental and company procedures — including permit-to-work systems, PPE use, safe handling of chemicals/solvents, confined-space and working-at-height protocols.
• Propose improvements to painting/coating procedures to optimize quality, safety, and efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience:
QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training/certification in industrial/marine painting or related trade is advantageous.
• Valid offshore safety and survival certifications (advantage)
EXPERIENCE
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in industrial or marine/offshore painting, coatings application, surface preparation, ideally on vessels, rigs or FPSO.
• Experience using abrasive blasting, spray painting, and coating application on steel structures, tanks, pipes, and marine-grade surfaces.
Skills:
• Strong knowledge of surface preparation techniques and coating systems; ability to interpret technical specifications and paint data sheets.
• Proficiency in using manual and power tools, spray equipment, blasting gear; able to maintain equipment and ensure safe operation.
• Excellent attention to detail and quality control mindset.
• Physical stamina and ability to work under challenging offshore conditions — heights, confined spaces, variable weather, long shifts, heavy lifting.
• Good communication skills, ability to follow instructions and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Safety-oriented attitude, with a commitment to comply with all safety and environmental regulations.
• English & Hebrew speaker
• Familiarity with offshore work rotation schedules and ability to commit to extended periods offshore.
