Summary: 
 
Energean plc, an international energy company, is the leading independent oil & gas exploration and production company on the London stock exchange (with a dual listing in Tel Aviv). The company has significant assets in the east Mediterranean, with plans for significant growth in that region and across Africa. We are currently seeking an experienced lawyer for the role of Senior Legal Counsel, based in London.

This is an exciting opportunity for a UK-qualified and experienced corporate/energy lawyer to join our UK legal team working closely with, and reporting to, the Group General Counsel, and supporting our dynamic and fast-paced business.
 
Key Accountabilities:

  • Providing advice on a wide range of legal matters affecting the business operations, including in connection with a variery of corporate, commercial and M&A transactions, and asset/JV management aspects.
  • Working closely with the Group General Counsel and other members of our UK and international legal team to support business growth and operations.
  • Provide assistance on litigtation/arbitration proceedings, as well financing transactions, when they arise.
  • Where required, work with and support our legal teams globally.
  • Supporting key internal stakeholders in connection with all legal matters.
  • Liaising with external lawyers and other advisers to ensure business objectives are met efficiently and comprehensively.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Extensive UK post-qualification experience in private practice and/or in-house in a corporate/transactional and/or energy environment;
  • Minimum of 5 years PQE;
  • Experience of working on commercial projects, as well as asset/JV management experience, is essential;
  • Previous in-house experience in the industry is desirable but not essential;
  • Experience with the implementation and/or use of legal operations is desirable but not essential;
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills;
  • Positive, independent and proactive approach; commercially-focused; self-motivated and practical;
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong team-work skills;
  • Helpful, flexible and adaptable to evolving business needs.
